Tufenkian is pleased to announce the opening of its new signature showroom in the Chicago Merchandise Mart. Our new 2,500 square foot showroom is located on the 17th floor, neighboring the Niedermaier and Holly Hunt showrooms. This new showroom was designed by Thomas Shoner Associates, whose other recent projects include Ice, Las Vegas; Crobar, Chicago; Rednofive, Chicago; Lip's, Chicago and Room 22, Chicago.

The new Tufenkian showroom offers its full collection of hand-knotted carpets woven from 100% virgin Tibetan and Armenian wool, as well as silk, in a variety of knot constructions in contemporary, transitional and traditional designs. In addition to our Core and Armenian Collections, Tufenkian offers its exclusive trade-only Designers' Reserve Collection, a collaboration between James Tufenkian and designers such as Barbara Barry, Kevin Walz, Vicente Wolf and William Georgis.

The Tufenkian Showroom's inviting environment and knowledgeable staff will make it easy to select a carpet for immediate delivery or to design exclusive custom rugs for your clients. A full range of contracts, residential and hospitality services will be offered.

Pete Perrodin, Showroom Manager
Tufenkian would like to welcome Pete Perrodin, who is the Manager of our new Chicago Showroom.

Pete comes to Tufenkian with over 20 years of successful sales and management experience for national and international luxury products. Prior to joining Tufenkian he managed sales & sales training for Baker, Knapp & Tubbs in both Chicago & Los Angeles. He was also Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Cal-Pacific Showrooms in Los Angeles.

Pete has an avid interest in both the decorative arts and psychology; a combination he feels has been the underlying basis for his sales and marketing success.

Karen Schwoerer, Operations Manager
Joining Pete as Operations/Sales Support Representative, is Karen Schwoerer. Karen is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with a degree in Anthropology and Linguistics. Karen was a member of the University of Wisconsin String Orchestra and has a passion for African History. Please join me in welcoming Karen Schwoerer to Tufenkian. She too will be a great asset to our team.

Becky Schallert, Outside Account Representative
Beck comes to Tufenkian with a strong sales and marketing backgrond in luxury rugs. Until recently, she worked with Tufenkian and other brands as the customer service manager, then as the project manager at Peerless Rug Company in Chicago. At Peerless Becky was heavily involved with designer-driven projects.
She graduated Cum Laude from Millikan University with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. Becky's training, experience, knowledge and winning personality, all combine to give her remarkable poise and presence.

Molly Scanlan
Molly is a recent graduate of Illionis State University having majored in Music. She has studied abroad in Florence and London as well. Her set design skills make her a great addition to the showroom. She is extremely organized, with excellent computer skills. Molly is taking an enthusiastic hands-on approach to such varied tasks as physically receiving and shipping inventory, database updates and event planning.

Marjorie Darmitzel, Showroom Manager
Marjorie has over 10 years of experience as an interior designer with her own Houston-based business, specializing in commercial and residential design, and another 10 years in retail and showroom management. Before joining Tufenkian, she worked for Scalamandre Silks, Baker Knapp & Tubbs, Roche Bobis and Laura Ashley. Marjorie has also worked as a college instructor. She enjoys working directly with customers and with designer clients.

Michael Williams, Sales Representative
ASID/TAID/IIDA
Michael comes to Tufenkian with over 30 years of experience in the carpet industry. He began his career in New York as an installer and salesperson, and has worked for the last 20 years in various capacities with Edward Fields, most recently as a regional salesperson. Michael has dedicated himself to industry service a committee and board member with the ASID, TAID and IIDA. He has been honored with numerous awards and citations from these organizations.

Rachel Reece, Operations Manager
Joining the Houston Showroom is Rachel Reece. Rachel is a graduate of The University of Houston, with a degree in Business Marketing. While earning her degree she worked her way up in the restaurant/catering business gaining valuable Customer Service experience. Prior to joining Tufenkian, Rachel worked as a project coordinator with Areacon, Inc. Tufenkian is pleased to welcome Rachel to the Houston Showroom.

Nick Aiello, Showroom Manager
Nick has a literature degree with a minor in ancient Greek. He came to Tufenkian ten years ago after a decade of ministry with the Mienh refugees of Laos. As one of the Portland co-managers since 2003, in addition to showroom and contract sales, Nick established and maintains the furniture store accounts and expresses his passion for rugs as art by conducting sales seminars for the design community educational lectures for enthusiasts and collectors.

Kerry Andrews, Outside Sales - Oregon
Kerry joined Tufenkian in 2007 with a decade of sales and marketing experience. Her focus will be residential and commercial contract sales. She attended Sacramento City College as well as Santa Barbara Business College and acquired her Oregon State Insurance license for Life and Health Insurance sales.

Merridy Gerlach, Showroom Manager
Merridy has degrees in Psychology and Interior Design as well as 26 years of experience in retail sales and management in the Portland area. As a co-manager at Tufenkian, she works with both residential customers and both commercial and residential interior designers. She also specializes in helping clients create one-of-a-kind Tufenkian custom rugs.

Andrew Gritzbaugh, TufenkianOutlet Sales
Andrew holds a bachelors degree in Marketing from the Portland State University School of Business and served with the U.S. Army for 8 years before joining Tufenkian in 2006. He specializes with closeout rugs in www.tufenkianoutlet.com and provides personalized service to long distance clients all across America.

Lindsey Noss, TufenkianOutlet Sales Assistant
Lindsey Noss holds a degree in business and has an extensive design background via teaching and working one on one with clients. She specializes in assisting internet clients obtain Tufenkian rugs based upon their specifications.

Dave Weidkamp, Showroom Manager
Dave has a diverse background. He holds degrees in sociology and religious studies and worked in commercial banking before joining Tufenkian ten years ago. Today he works with interior designers in the NW and has been integral in developing the internet business of Tufenkian with closeout or discontinued rugs via www.tufenkianoutlet.com

Kam Sisco, Administrative Sales Support
Kam comes to Tufenkian after spending over 7 years in the Architecture & Engineering industry where he played many different valuable rolls tasks including contract management, project administration and marketing support. Kam attended the University of Oregon where he studied theatre arts and music. He is currently back in the academic world and is pursuing a BA in Business Administration. Kam's diverse familiarity in the administrative and operations field makes him a great asset to the Tufenkian team.

Carole recently joined Tufenkian with over 20 years of experience and relationships in the contract/hospitality/A & D community. She is a graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, and began her professional career in major houses in both New York and Los Angeles with a diverse background in design, sales and marketing.
Her clients and projects include The Getty with Richard Meier Architects, Kwid (Kelly Wearstler), Hard Rock Restaurant and Casino, Dougall Design Associates, Universal Citywalk, Walt Disney Imagineering, Adam Tihany, David Rockwell, Hilton Hotels, the gaming industry including The Bellagio, The Venetian, Paris, Wolfgang Puck with Imaginings (Barbara Lazaroff), Hirsch Bedner Associates, Restaurant Associates, Johnny Rockets and Honda America corporate headquarters.

Carlton Teabout, Showroom Manager
Carlton brings a strong sense of style, design and integrity to Tufenkian. He has a degree in interior design and has sold Tufenkian Carpets for 15 years. His expert knowledge of handmade rugs and design background make him an excellent consultant to designers interested in selecting and customizing Tufenkian creations. He has a strong vision of Tufenkian's contribution to the world's social, economical and environmental consciousness and is enthusiastic in helping that vision to unfold. Greg Duncan, Outside Sales Representative
Greg has been a professional sales representative in the interior design industry for 28 years. For over two decades he was an account manager for one of the largest fabric design houses in the industry. For the last two years with Tufenkian, he has focused on the residential and hospitality/contract interior design industry.

Ivy L. Garfield - Operations Manager,
Ivy has over twenty year's operations experience with design related retail/wholesale/manufacturing companies including Lux Lighting-Portland, The Goltz Group and Tech Lighting, both located in Chicago. From marketing, sales & service to HR, finance and purchasing, Ivy has worn a variety of hats. She especially enjoys working with dynamic entrepreneurs whose high energy level and global vision is as thrilling as any amusement park ride.

Bryan Pernot, Showroom Administrator / Inside Sales
Bryan brings a young, fresh attitude and a background in art and music to the team at the Los Angeles showroom. He has been a valuable colleague with Tufenkian for over a year and has several years of experience in the home decor and furnishing industry.

Eddie Fernandez, Maintenance / Receiving
Eddie has been with Tufenkian for over six years. He began at our corporate warehouse in 1997 and moved from New Jersey with his family to be part of the Los Angeles Showroom team in 2005. Nicole Costello, Showroom Manager
Before beginning her work in the design trade community over six years ago, Nicole worked extensively in the high-end retail world and as a personal shopper for high-profile clients. She then begain working with designers and architects in the luxury home goods sector at WaterWorks. After developing an impressive client list through the building of long-term relationships, she brought her experience to Tufenkian. She is proud to say that she continues to work with many of her original clients today.

Thomas Tveter, Contract Sales
Thomas is a true "hands-on" rug guy with over 22 years of experience in the industry. He started at Gundolt Carpet, where he learned to fabricate and hand sew carpet. As an expert in his field, he has been a speaker on the fabrication and installation of woven carpet at national conventions. In 1985, he started Tveter Carpet, a company that imported Nepalese rugs. Before joining Tufenkian, he also worked as a Sr. Account Executive with Milliken Carpet.

Natalio Luetto, Residential Sales Representative
Natatlio comes to Tufenkian having been with Richard Afkari Rugs on Stone, Inc. as well as ABC Carpet & Home. Natalio brings with him an extensive background in high-end carpets, having owned his own retail business specializing in kilims, dhurries and Tibetan carpets in Argentina. Not only does Natalio have over 15 years experience in the carpet industry, but he also brings a great sense of passion and dedication that will make him an exceptional addition to the Tufenkian team.

Tobi Janoff, Operations Manager
Tobi returns to Tufenkian as Operations Manager of the New York Showroom. Prior to joining Tufenkian, Tobi gained a great deal of valuable experience in Customer Relations, having managed teams at companies such as Macy's, Bergdorf Goodman and McClanahan's Publication. Tobi's extensive knowledge in Inventory Control and Company Operations will be a great addition to the success of the New York Showroom.

Lisa Elliott, Director of Contract Sales
Lisa joins Tufenkian with over 15 years of experience in the luxury sales industry. She began her sales career working in showrooms sales with DesignTex, Inc, and worked her way up to Outside Contract Sales Representative with Dakota Jackson, Inc, and most recently, Enterprise Lighting Sales. Lisa brings with her an extensive background working with the Architecture and Design community, serving residential, contract and hospitality clients, maintaining territories all over the country.

Mingyur Tsering, Master Weaver
Mingyur is originally from Tibet, where he learned the art of weaving carpets from his parents. Mingyur left his homeland in 2001. After arriving in America, he joined Tufenkian Carpets as our in-house master weaver. With over 20 years of experience as a weaver, he lends his knowledge and understanding to all aspects of running our New York showroom. He has become an invaluable asset to our staff and clients.

Tashi Dawa, Master Weaver
Tashi is originally from Tibet, where he learned the artistry of weaving carpet from his parents as a child. In Nepal, he owned his own carpet factory. When Tashi decided to come to America in 2001, he joined Tufenkian Carpets as our in-house Master Weaver. He works in the New York Showroom assisting at all levels of the business. Along with Mingyur, he is considered to be the backbone of the New York Showroom. With over 20 years of weaving experience, his knowledge and care for what he does is invaluable.
