Tufenkian, an innovator in luxury handmade rugs for over 20 years, has realized tremendous growth in their custom rug business over the last few years. This is due in large part to the development of Tufenkian's proprietary and state-of-the-art T-Gallery Rendering System. With T-Gallery, Tufenkian has perfected the craft of custom rug production, allowing customers to create rugs from their own imaginations, or to modify an existing Tufenkian pattern with new colors or a different shape and size.

To prove just how easy the process is, House & Garden's Senior Style Editor, Melissa Feldman, attended a Tufenkian Custom Seminar and created her own masterpiece. Melissa was walked through the process as if she were one of Tufenkian's clients. She utilized the T-Gallery computer rendering system that let her resize and recolor-choosing from over 1,000 color options and any Tufenkian pattern. Melissa chose the Kyoto design and changed the colors and size to meet her desire. She was later presented with a sample of her custom design. "Little did I know that selecting colors for a rug would be so easy. I was reminded of when I was a graphic designer and had to spec colors for type and backgrounds. I'm thrilled with how my rug turned out," said Feldman.

Currently, Tufenkian produces over 1,100 rugs per year in the custom program, with an even distribution between residential and commercial projects. All of the rugs created through the custom program are held to the same high quality standards that make Tufenkian Carpets the leader in its category. "No compromise necessary" is the unwavering philosophy by which Tufenkian's custom program operates. Tufenkian has even built additional looms when necessary to accommodate special orders and stay on schedule. Currently, the maximum loom size is 35' x 50'.

Over the past 20 years, Tufenkian's clients have created a multitude of unique rugs with the guidance of expert in-house designers and the T-Gallery system. Examples of Tufenkian's custom installations can be seen in the Westin Hotel in New York City, the Four Seasons in Miami and the Borgata Casino & Hotel in Atlantic City, as well as in some of the most extraordinary private residences and corporate offices around the world.
